Cancer in Love

The moon constantly changes its appearance; it waxes and wanes, remaining inconspicuous by day but becoming queen of the night, turning an ordinary landscape into a thing of mystery and enchantment. And so it is with Cancer - a cautious, unassuming and gentle exterior conceals a strong, ambitious and forceful inner-being, one whose most passionate qualities are revealed when in love, and one whose protective and possessive instincts come to the fore as wife and mother. You are one of the most unlikely zodiac types to be promiscuous: you crave security and stability, you resist change and hang onto the past like a life-raft. The sad fact is that in this modern age even the devoted Cancerian can experience rifts and ruptures in their relationships, and sometimes, when they have been deeply, deeply hurt, they never recover, remaining single and somewhat bitter for the rest of their lives. The Celestial Crab never forgets where she has buried the hatchet.

You share with Taurus a need to let your loved ones lead lives of their own: a partner who feels free but adored and cherished is a happy one. One of the biggest lessons Cancer must learn in life is to let go, in every sense of the phrase: you trust yourself, and you ought to trust those you love, otherwise your fear of being let down, betrayed and left becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Love and marriage go hand in hand for the Cancer female - unless you've had an extremely difficult upbringing, you will tend to marry young, and, more importantly, stay with your man, through thick and thin. Indeed, when Ms Cancer vows to love in sickness and in health, for richer for poorer, and until death do you part, she really, really means it.

The Cancerian Man

Don't be fooled. This man may seem pliable, diffident, romantic and stable but behind that smokescreen is a determined, focused and emotionally complex individual. He is, I have to say, possessed by mother, by which I mean the relationship he has had with his mother - good or bad - powerfully affects his romantic and marital life. Your best bet is never to criticize his mother, nor insult his family: let him do all the whingeing (which the male Crab does rather a lot). Mr Cancer adores fiery women - think Salma Hayek in Frida - although he often marries women who represent a safety blanket, someone he knows will never stray, someone who will make a mother for his children and a home for him to scuttle back to day after day, night after night.

Who's For You

You feel most at home with your family, which in terms of astrology means your fellow Cardinal signs - Aries, Libra, Capricorn and Cancer. You are fatally attracted to Mr Libra because he is just the smoothest guy on the block. He is romantic, well-mannered and prepared to talk about the relationship: the trouble is talk is sometimes all you get after a few years. The Aries man is another magnet - confident, flashy - he is the epitome of the knight in shining armour. Great at first but anxiety-making in the long run. Capricorn man is near perfect - he will never let you down, he is strong, stable and solvent but don't expect fireworks and a speedy engagement. Two Cancers together is another dream ticket and another long, slow dance to the altar. Mr Taurus and Mr Virgo are two other men tailor-made for the sensitive and needy Cancerian. The sexual chemistry should be fantastic, especially with the Taurean, but both signs are caring, responsible and in it for the long term.

Life Love Money The Year Ahead for Cancer

Water signs are said to be emotional and vulnerable but you are a Cardinal water sign and the Cardinals are movers and shakers. Please keep reminding yourself of this truism as you go through 2018. Saturn is newly at the opposite point of the zodiac so you will need to toughen up because this is going to be the way to succeed. If you are strong, others will back you and the opposition will melt away. Jupiter is boosting your image and creativity, whether this manifests as additions to the family or a big moment in the spotlight. A divine link between Jupiter and Neptune (25 May and 19 August) has the capacity to make a dream come true or at least for divine providence to make an appearance. Not everyone belongs to your fan club, however, as you may well come to realize, but when you’re on the path to a new and better life, you don’t need baggage.

Saturn’s new focus is first and foremost relationships. For some Cancerians marriage is on the cards while for others 2018 will prove a testing time for a partnership. Partners are like mirrors: we see our best and worst features in them, and this will help should you find yourself pointing the finger of blame at your other half. You need to change too. And by altering your behaviour and perspective, your partner will change. And there could be many happy outcomes for couples in crisis. The week of the 25th June brings many of you to a crossroads: 31 March, 13 July and 25th September are other key points for relationship epiphanies. Look for the patterns, Cancer: if you keep encountering a particular difficulty or attracting a similar type, either embrace it or bin it.

It’s down to you. Even in a corporate situation, exerting your opinions and bringing new ideas into the arena will raise your status. If you find a colleague or superior difficult, even bullying, rather than make a complaint, show you relish a challenge and build a solid network of supporters. If push does come to shove, be confident about your future. Remember, you’re on the path to the new… The year’s main eclipses fall on the financial axis of your solar chart so there could be surprise gains and equally unanticipated losses in late January/early February and late July. While you will get real value for money in your endeavours, and some employers and business partners will prove their weight in gold, it will be hard work pushing through contracts and agreements. Adapt and negotiate.
