February's newsletter
There is an argument to be made for Newt Gingrich winning the Republican ticket. However, the placing of this same eclipse bang on Mitt Romney's Ascendant is far more indicative of the acquisition of a new identity, which, of course, the nomination would provide.
My prediction is that Mitt Romney will eventually emerge the winner, thereby assuring Barack Obama of a second term in office.
AT 7:30 PM ON FRIDAY, 13th JANUARY, THE COSTA CONCORDIA, a super cruise-ship, left the Port of Rome for a seven-day voyage around the Mediterranean.
Three hours later, she was lying on her side, perched precariously on a ledge, in the waters just off the Italian Island of Giglio.
Were it not for the death of 17 people - 16 remain missing and 64 injured - the enormous cost involved in the loss of such a ship, plus the potential ecological disaster, the situation might have had all the ingredients of a comic opera.
Based on the evidence of this solar chart, I could not say that Schettino is a coward. Scorpio is the one sign guaranteed to go down with the ship.
However, I do believe he has an overly inflated image of himself, and that when disaster struck, like a small boy, he fled 'under the bed' desperately trying to hide from what he had done. He simply could not face such catastrophic failure.

This is probably not the most joy-filled week of 2012, unless, of course, you positively enjoy being reminded of your flaws and failings. Saturn turns retrograde taking us all back over old ground and sending us that familiar message – what goes around, comes around. We are witnessing the process of karma, whether in our own lives or out there on the world’s stage. And while it is important that we see to where the error of our ways has led, it is the fresh actions that are taken now that need to be most carefully thought out. Hard decisions are necessary, especially where finances and the planet are concerned, so before you splash out on that little must-have and send that milk carton on its way to the land-fill, think again. Doing the right thing is so good for the soul.

The Month Ahead...
February 2012
How very appropriate of Neptune to enter its own sign just before Valentine’s Day - among the many attributes of this most mysterious of planets are romance and fantasy; it has other properties, of course - mayhem, loss and deception come to mind. Neptune arrives in Pisces on 3 February and will take roughly thirteen years to move all the way through it. We will have a taste of what this planet can do for us when it conjuncts the sun and Mercury during the week of the 13th, so during this time make a point of watching for any headline-grabbing events involving such Neptunian things as oceans, oil, medicine, movies and the supernatural. (The Oscars are going to be very different this year, and it is interesting that the film tipped for many of the little statuettes is a silent movie, The Artist. Put your money on this one.) Venus will be in Aries for V-Day, bringing out the best in romance and relationships for members of this sign and their opposite number, the Librans. And since it is a Leap Year, maybe lady Rams will be leading the zodiac in making their men an offer they cannot refuse. Saturn turns retrograde on the 7th – the same day as the full moon in Leo – so we can expect more economic doom and gloom and a rise in tensions, especially in the Middle East. Nonetheless, February is not a bad month, and in patches – take the weekend of the 25th for instance – it’s really rather good.

2012 - Global Trends
2012 is considered to be such a portentous year for the planet that Hollywood even made a movie about it. It was, sad to say, all doom and gloom with a lot of fire and brimstone thrown in for good measure.
So, why has 2012 caught people’s imagination? What is there about the year ahead that is so awe-inspiring?
In a nutshell, the ancient Maya developed a sophisticated and extremely complicated calendar that spanned the millennia and it stops, according to many scholars, on 21 December 2012.
Too add fuel to the fire of speculation, it is said that the earth will align with the Galactic Centre on that very day, which could have some very undesirable consequences for our planet.

Predicting 9-11
A personal reflection on the events of 11 September, 2001
Every year at this time I send a special card to the Super of my old apartment block on West 57th Street.
I used to send a bunch of Stargazer lilies too but his wife, Eleanor, died last November, so now there is just him.
According to Malcolm, Eleanor died of a broken heart.
She never got over the death of her youngest son, Timmy, who was at work on the 106th floor of the North Tower at 8 46 am on that fateful morning, ten years ago.
At that precise moment, I was standing at the counter of a printer's shop, waiting to pick up some leaflets, only it was lunchtime in London.
I remember the silence of the store suddenly being shattered as a woman careened through the door, screaming, "A plane's just flown into the World Trade Centre!"
When I arrived at the house, my son Alex, was standing in front of the television, watching footage of the smoke pouring from the North Tower.
Before I had time to take off my jacket the second plane crashed into the South Tower.
