My COSMIC UPDATES are a way of looking at items and people in the news from an astrological perspective. And while I try to make the text as understandable as possible I realize that some of the astrological jargon baffles the general reader.

Since I have had so many e-mails about updating the RELATIONSHIP section of Astrolutely.com I am devoting my time this weekend to that purpose as opposed to the usual Cosmic Update. However, there are a couple of issues I wanted to take up, albeit briefly and in the spirit of food for thought.

Aspects Of Concern

Since late February Saturn and Pluto have been dominating the astrological agenda – indeed as I write these words transiting Mercury is squaring Saturn and will go on to do the same to Pluto on Friday. Already, we have seen an escalation of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, although a small light at the end of the tunnel has appeared with the ‘deal’ put forward by the Saudi Royal Family. However, my reading of the situation, given the general tone of the astrology at the moment, is that there is much going on behind the scenes and that many of the diplomatic moves are pure window dressing.

The only move that will make a difference in the Middle East is if the West, and principally the US, insists Israel give back the land taken in 1967 to the Palestinians.

By the end of May the combination of a lunar eclipse and the third and final opposition between Saturn and Pluto in this cycle could result in a blood bath that we have as yet not seen the like of. And I believe that under these present alignments plans are being laid for a strike against Iraq, which will, of course, result in a devastating terrorist response in America and Europe.

Tony Blair - Is The Honeymoon Over?

A two-day summit of European leaders in Barcelona took place under a Mars-Neptune/Mercury-Saturn umbrella. Tony Blair’s comments that the EU was “not moving forward as fast as Britain would like” were no doubt an understatement.

Blair is attempting to act as a bridge between the US, who is keen to extend the war on terrorism into Iraq, and the rest of Europe which does not.

While not so very long ago, in the wake of 9-11, Blair was quite the darling of Britain, he is now treading a very slippery path.

Slippery slopes are to be found in Neptune’s domain and this planet is gaining serious ground in Blair’s natal chart.

I shall be returning to Blair’s chart in the future but for now let me point you to his moon in Aquarius (11 degrees 29) and his North Node (7 degrees 27). Neptune transits to the moon are coincident with muddled thinking and loss of public confidence. And since Neptune is applying to the moon this is a state of affairs that is coming into being, not disappearing.

Blair will have to be very careful not to be misled by others or misguided by his own visions.
